I hope that the balancing - especially on certain ships with the Gauss Cannons will be adjusted. At the end of the Alpha I was pretty much undefeatable with a certain fleet (Bishops LRM) with two Power Gauss Cannons. Cheap ship, insane damage potential and range and many of them. Right from the begining I would spawn those and rock the map. I don't think anyone could have defeated that fleet without having the same one :-)
The Durendal is also extremely OP with that one. Not as cheap and therefore not as OP as the Bishop but still... Mine had 4 Power Gauss Cannons mounted to it (2 to the left - 2 to the right) 280 DPS altogether at max range and ignoring shields for a good part.
I do think - however - that the Gauss Cannons are balanced on the Mjolnir for example. It's so easy to outmanuver and counter then... So it's not the weapon itself. It's more the combination of that weapon on certain ships.
Full argee with Manny) Gauss seems to be some imbalanced. I think, need to raise FP to use Gaus Cannons only on heavy and expensive ships, like Mjolnir or Piligrim etc.
Othervise, I've managed to fit two EMP artillery cannons to Vanguard ship (Aegis, LRM modification) and having a good support ship with 2.2k TP and DPS about 200
All artillery should be balanced somehow)
