Siege Laser - special formation

Postby ebergar » Thu Jun 16, 2016 9:33 pm

Hello,

During my times having fun with Nexus, the Jupiter Incident, when my fleet was at lategame, a new technology arrived. It allowed thy fleet to gather at ship with special module called "Siege Laser". After (quite long) time, when everybody was at their positions, main ship launched repeatedly devastating beams of laser, while draining other ships out of their energy. It needed sufficient amount of ships to execute. This was mainly used to penetrate space-station-class shields, unpenetrable by measly numerous fleets.

Anything like that exists here, in StarFall? :D

But space station shields are easily penetrated in this game. You are suggesting to make them impenetrable except to this laser?

Mechanics in that game stated, that every shield had regeneration rate, and needed to be pounded/hit by some anti-shield weaponry (actually, you could hit it with ANY weaponry, just anti shield was best). The more weaponry, the quicker the shield was defeated. Single ship with good shields could stand for a long long time versus single ship with measly antishields. But 2 anti vs 1 shield made victory much quicker. Station shields had best regeneration rate, so more ships needed to hit it by these weapons. Siege Laser formation quickened things a lot, as it pierced shields AND dealt heavy damage. Obviously was useless vs even moderately moving targets. Slow moving Cruisers still vulnerable.

You still haven't clarified what you want. What is your suggestion? Leave shield damage as it is now but add a anti-Mothership weapon that takes time to setup and fire?

Hello ebergar! :)
This laser looks cool - however, it's not so hard to destroy a Mothership at the moment and you already have a EMP module which helps you destroy shields.
I'm watching you!

Exactly. That could prove useful after getting customizable motherships to get rid of these turtled ones.

Nice idea)

Would be fun to upgrade some point station to siege laser for about 3k WP and have very powerful and (low-DPS -> high-alpfa-strike) weapon. And players always have a choise to wapr in battle some ships or make powerfull siege weapon.
And i think siege laser shouldn't be able to target any ships exept mothership)
