Oh hey, some actual concept art in a concept art thread, woo-hoo! Although it's more of a promo art, since we probably won't actually model them? I dunno. Faction-representing portraits is just another one of those things that was done in a hurry on the eve of Kickstarter years ago and wasn't revisited since. And while I'm trying to improve the faction menu, I decided that I might as well take a stab at redrawing them, beginning with Deprived as the weakest link.

I'm mostly pleased with the guy, because he definitely looks like he could kick the ass of a previous guy. The female dude has a design that's fun to me, but looks more like a halloween costume of a wastelander than an actual person who survives on a diet of radroach meat and a prayer. So maybe it requires another pass.

Definatly looks better then the old ones, the male one especially.
But overall i think they look to "clean" for deprived, atleast the way i imagined them.

I agree, they do look a little too clean. However, keep their faces as clean as they are, as that is what you want the focal point to be, especially for the cloaked guy.

Aaaaand Deprived are done! :D Don't really know what you guys meant by imagining them to be dirtier since they looked pretty clean in the original portrait. Besides, they're not showerless savages, they're just very hands-on with their tech… and have a flair for the dramatic, I suppose. Anyway, I live for self-indulgent art progress pics, so have this comparison picture. Guess we're slowly drifting away from a bright cartoony look after all.

they do look good indeed.

what i meant with "dirty" was that i imagined them living in an abandomed wasteland, so there would be alot of dust etc. whenever they have to get outside.

Same. However, looking at them again, I do think that might not be necessary.
