Just adding to the suggestion;
When adding Colonization/Crafting, have a research station as well
Items have to be reverse engineered in the research screen to have a chance of receiving the blueprint, with more items sacrificed increasing the chance exponentially
However, the issue I can see brewing would be people wanting a way to recycle duplicate blueprints in addition to this system. Then you start to have multiple ways of getting gear and progressing too quickly.
The only change that I could see that would allow both systems in place would be to lower the amount of cards you get from the booster packs, or make them more expensive (I'm looking at some of the posts by other people on the forums for farming techniques and they are getting 5k+ for each survival run with ONE ship [I'm topping at wave 9 with 2000 IGC with my whole fleet in play...])
